Design a Home You Love is a 3-day event aimed at home-owners who are looking for affordable ways to turn their house into a home they absolutely love. 

Dates: March 4-6, 2024

On this page, you’ll find all of the resources and information you need to make your participation as a speaker as easy as possible. This includes any links, dates, and tips to make a success for YOUR brand. We want this to be so worthwhile for you.

General Information:

The goal of this virtual conference for attendees is to give homeowners the confidence and design knowledge to transform their house into a home they absolutely love… on a budget! 

Our goal of this virtual conference for presenters is to help you grow your email list and brand awareness to a new audience while earning income as an affiliate. 

The affiliate commissions come from attendees’ option to upgrade to a VIP ticket.

The event will run from March 4-6, 2024 (PST timezone), featuring many pre-recorded daily presentations. We plan to kick off the event with a live welcome party to help remind attendees to show up with some prizes too!

Since this will change as we receive your presentation topics, consider this a rough draft designed to help you better understand the virtual conference topic areas as you brainstorm!

While the presentations will all be pre-recorded for attendees, all speakers are requested to spend some time with the attendees in the Facebook Group the day their presentation goes up. This is key to building long-lasting fans by interacting with attendees and answering any questions from your session. 

This Facebook group is for attendees…

  • To hang out with other attendees
  • Ask us additional questions
  • Find new inspiration from other attendees posts
  • Find access to the free sessions if they miss the emails

Leading up to the virtual conference, we’ll have a 2 week promotion period for speakers to share about the event. You’ll be provided swipe copy for emails and social media, plus graphics to save you time for your promotions. We’ll also share a suggested marketing schedule to make promoting easy for you or your VA (let’s get that affiliate income!). 

We request each presenter shares at least two invitations to the event whether email or social media. We find email typically converts better. The more you talk about it, the more benefit you will see for your brand.

Your followers and fans can attend your session as well as all of the others in the Design a Home You Love virtual conference for free as they air live. 

Each day, presentations will be available for attendees to watch at no cost. They will be removed at the end of each day.

VIP Pass

Although the presentations are free to watch during the conference, there’s an upgrade called the VIP Pass which will give pass holders instant access to the sessions and allow them to keep access in the future. 

During the promotion period, during the event and for a few days following the event, we’ll be promoting this VIP Pass to attendees of the free conference. All sales linked to your registration code will earn you a commission. 

With the VIP Pass, attendees will receive:

  • Instant access to the Replay Portal (all sessions)
  • Bonus resources in the Replay Portal
  • Access to the replays for 2 years

To help increase the value and appeal of the VIP Pass, you’re invited to contribute a bonus to the bundle! This helps make the sale for you as a speaker and affiliate so much easier! More information on that is below. 

This option for attendees to purchase the VIP Pass will provide immense value to our attendees for the work you put in to create a presentation worthwhile by allowing you to bring in affiliate commissions. Win-win!

What we need from YOU:

As a presenter, you’ll need to send your general information, upload your presentation video and bonuses (optional) and share this event with your audience. This is the best way to grow your own list!

Please make sure you are available to meet our deadlines and available to promote during the marketing timeline (February 20- March 3, 2024). 

Here is a quick list of your to-do items as a speaker with details for each. We know how busy you must be so our aim is to make this as simple and as organized as possible for you.

Basic Information

Due December 18th, 2023

First, we’ll need your basic information to set up our registration and speakers pages. This should take 5-10 minutes of your time once you’ve brainstormed a topic. If you need help brainstorming a topic or narrowing it down, please reach out! 

This information includes:

  • Name + Short Bio
  • Social Media + Website Links
  • Headshot (square)
  • Proposed Session Topic + Summary

Presentation Submission

Presentations are pre-recorded + to be uploaded as a .mp4 file by January 25th. 

Guidelines for your presentation:

  • Your video should be recorded in a well lit area with clear sound. You may choose to demonstrate, present from a desk, use slides, or a combination of all formats. 
  • Sessions are generally more friendly and casual than perfectly structured videos… but if you’re more comfortable with all the professionalism, go for it 😉 
  • The goal with each presentation is for attendees to learn something valuable and have a good time. These are NOT sales videos for an offer you have. Structure your content so attendees feel like they’ve learned something, not just been sold to. They should not feel like they’re missing something to take action on your presentation topic without buying from you to get the value for their time spent.
  • Please keep your videos between 20-30 minutes in length. The priority here is clear, quality content. Tell them what they need to know while being your lovable self… and it will be perfect!
  • You may include up to 2 minutes at the end of your video for a pitch of a freebie or product you have.

Want some further video format guidance? Here’s a suggested format:

  1. A quick introduction and welcome to the virtual conference [1 minute]
  2. What you’ll be talking about in your session and any resources they’ll need to make the most of it
  3. Teaching Section [15-30 minute range]
  4. Feel free to include questions for attendees to answer in the FB group throughout your session to boost engagement and get people talking about your presentation (to get more views) 
  5. Up to a 2-minute pitch can include a free offer or something you have for sale. (please provide the URLs for us to include under your video)

VIP Pass – Bonus Contribution

The VIP Pass is key to success for speakers ($$!)  and increases attendee’s enjoyment of the event. To make it even more valuable that attendees grab a VIP Pass, speakers (you!) are invited to provide one resource valued over $20 to this section. 

This is SO valuable to not only increase visibility of your offer (what are you an expert at!) but also to grow your email list. 

Some examples of VIP items:

  • eBook
  • Digital file bundles
  • Courses (big or small)
  • Workshops
  • Memberships (1-3 month, depending on value)
Some things to consider:
  • Please note this will convert well. We strongly suggest that you DO NOT contribute a 1:1 service or offer. 
  • It’s your choice to create something new or to provide a product you already have available for your brand that is sold OVER $20. 
  • This is a great way to grow your email list. We suggest creating a coupon code that will give your VIP contribution for free, allowing you to collect those VIP emails! These are attendees that are already invested financially- they’re the perfect people for your email list!
  • If you do use a code, please use DAHYLVIP2024
  • We will be testing the VIP contributions the first week of February, please ensure your contribution is available for VIPs to download or register for through July 30th, 2024
  • Earn Higher Commission: Another benefit of the VIP Ticket is that any presenter who contributes a premium resource (AKA, not something you’re giving away for free to everyone else) will get a 55% affiliate commission on VIP sales rather than the standard 50% rate.
  • Information for these resources MUST BE UPLOADED with your video, both are due on January 25th
  • Each bonus has its own lesson page (webpage), so be sure to design clear, simple graphics so attendees are compelled to click. 

Promotion Dates + Affiliate Details

The promotion period for this online conference is February 20- March 3, 2024
  • The power of an online event comes from the collaboration of a group of experts with a similar audience. The joint promotion that happens in this type of event will greatly benefit everyone that participates. 
  • We request each presenter shares at least two invitations to the event whether email or social media. We find email typically converts better. The more you talk about it, the more benefit you will see for your brand!
  • Remember, you’ll want to share using your affiliate link! You will receive 50% commission on any attendees you register that upgrade to the VIP Pass (55% if you’ve contributed to the VIP Pass!).  You will receive your affiliate link access through Thrive Cart before the promotion period.
  • You’ll find swipe copy and graphics in Dropbox and your Speaker Vault. We’ll send this out once we’ve received your presentation material and finalized marketing materials! These are designed once we have your contributions- which is why we ask for everything to be sent in by January 25th!
  • Attendance doesn’t only rely on you. We will be marketing to our own audiences during the promotion period as well. Ads will also be running. You are welcome to run your own as well if you choose.
  • Your affiliate link will send them to the free event registration, they will be redirected to a VIP offer in the following sequence, all connected to a 14-day cookie. (After they register for free they have 20 minutes to grab the best price.)

Want to make the most of this virtual conference speaking experience? Here’s some tips to help you optimize the results from your efforts. This is all optional, but again, our goal for you is to grow your email list and brand awareness to a new audience while earning income as an affiliate.

Consider creating a free opt-in related to your presentation.

Remember- You may include up to 2 minutes at the end of your video for a pitch of a freebie or product you have.

The more related it is to your presentation, the better it will convert! This could be a checklist, a template, a guide… Let’s grow that list!

Bonus

Nurture

While you can see incredible growth to your list with presenting at a virtual conference, you must provide value for them to stick around!

We suggest scheduling out some emails to nurture those leads.

After they opt in and receive your free resource, schedule a follow up with some tips, then one with some related blog content, then finally, ask a question- how is the freebie working for you? Then… maybe it’s time for a sale on your course or product 😉

Share

We’re going to be marketing YOU as we market the event! Take advantage of this momentum + join in.

Tag your fellow speakers + re-share to build energy around the event.

Since you’ll have more eyes on your profiles + website, plan some related content that will hook them to win that follow!

This is one of those times that the more you participate, the more you’ll benefit from the increased exposure.

Contribute

Again, contributing to the VIP Pass can increase your exposure incredibly. Your product is marketed right there along with the VIP Pass as a valuable bonus.

Every single attendee that purchases the VIP Pass will receive your product or course + again, be directed to your brand site to redeem this.

Having your product or course in this bonus bundle will lend to awareness of your authority on the topic.

Engage

The Attendee Facebook Group is a great place to get your name, brand, and profile photo in front of the attendees. Not every attendee will see your presentation live, this is an easy opportunity to still reach those attendees.

BONUS TIP: In your presentation, ask attendees to engage with you in the Facebook group to have your name and brand front of mind.

Here’s some things you could ask them to do: answer a specific question, share their fave takeaway from your session, share a WIN related to your topic, or share what room or project they’ll take on after your session.

Promote

This is a win-win for all speakers. The more you promote, the more attendees are at the event to see your presentation + end up on your email list But also? Affiliate money, honey!

Remember, anytime you share a link to the free registration page, you’ll want to share your affiliate link!

You will receive 50% commission on any attendees you register that upgrade to the VIP Pass (55% if you’ve contributed to the VIP Pass!) with a 14 day cookie. 

The best way to increase sales here is to send emails out to those that have clicked your link (set up link tracking in your promotion emails) to remind them of price increases. That deadline of a price increase creates urgency which is great for your sales!

These promotion emails are great ones to ask for a share on. ‘Send this to a friend you’d love to do the Virtual Conference with!’

List Build

Focusing on list building through the event will help increase your income from being a presenter in a couple of ways.

Remember that anyone who attends the virtual conference live and watches your video can still upgrade to the VIP Pass during the event and for the week following. Make sure to have your opt-in running and after those attendees have snagged your freebie, don’t be shy in reminding them that time is running out to upgrade!

Big picture, consider that anyone on your list is a potential future fan! When you launch that new product or course or share your holiday gift guides… every fan counts!

Which leads us to our last tip…

Funnel

That email list you have built during the virtual event? They’re warm. They showed up + watched your session. They enjoyed it enough to subscribe for that freebie. They’re your target market for your course or product.

Don’t have a course or product? Consider an affiliate funnel! Whether it’s Amazon Links, Etsy or Share-a-Sale… With each helpful email or follow up tips and blog posts… include one or two tools you find helpful or a list of decor staples you can’t get enough of.

Try set these up ahead of time to make sure you take advantage of these leads while they’re warm! If you leave it too long… they might not remember why they loved your presentation. We know life gets busy- do your future self a favour + set this all up while you’re working on your opt-in.
